As a Scuba Instructor, I have many stories to tell from either marine creatures or divers.

Here one of them...

Once upon a time in a bright sunny day in Mexico Playa del Carmen, we had a guest in Risas Diving (our Dive shop) We welcome him and started a chat.

He told us he never tried Scuba Diving before so I talked about DISCOVER SCUBA DIVING, which is a beginner program by PADI that gives the chance to the people to go scuba diving without any experience before. I explained him the whole program procedures and the three steps to follow:

1. Theory

2. Confine practice (Pool)

3. Two dives into the sea, local Reefs.

GREAT!!!

Our new friend got excited about the idea of Scuba Diving.

But before we signed him up for the activity he told us about something really special that had to happen during the dive...

He wanted to follow the experience together with his fiancee and in addition to that ask to marry, he wanted all of this to happen under water during diving. Well I though -what to do?

I did not read anything like this on the instructor manual

No problem Man! We are in Mexico!

How to ask marry while breathing under water in three steps!

  1. Write the message on a cue card

  2. When YES is said or signed get ring ready to get engaged

  3. Underwater Kiss

Mean while on shore preparations were taking places without girlfriend´s knowledge.

We decided to apply all this on the second dive, we follow strictly the three steps and here her reaction... see pic below

Once we surfaced I called from the boat to the base to prepare a little party to celebrate with the couple!

It was a wonderful experience to everybody and very romantic for our customers!

Felicitaciones!!!!

Well you may think why am I writing about Calisthenics on a Diving Blog.

The answer to this is very simple

Both demand knowledge and body to be execute.

In 2003 when I was living in Curaçao, Dutch Antilles. While working in a bar I got in touch with Mark ( PADI Open Water Instructor )

Who doesn't t remember the first instructor ever?

He used to work in a small dive shop called Atlantis Divers. He started talking about diving and how cool diving was and that I had to give it a try....any time he spoke about diving I could see a bright spark in his eyes... must be very special I though...,🤔 so one day I decided to joy a DSD Discover Scuba Diving Program. Hahaha 😀 the first thing That I said once I got to the surface was :

" HOW DO I BECOME AN INSTRUCTOR OF THIS?"

There are many reasons now I figure it out why I did say that. But why is calisthenics so important in this blog?....

When you see someone doing something that in your eyes it is really cool! Guess what! You may get there! You may become a Diver or even have a dream job as a diver and spin 360 in air and catch a bar ( no this 🍻 type of "bar" this time)
